Read with the teleprompter
Keep your script nearby and follow your voice while recording.
The floating teleprompter keeps your script above other websites. Use a recent desktop version of Chrome or Edge for the floating window. Voice following also depends on your browser’s speech support and microphone permission.
Open your script
- Open the screen recorder and expand Teleprompter.
- Write or paste your text into Your script.
- Select Open teleprompter.
- Move the floating window near your camera or the part of the screen you will be watching.
- Open the settings button (sliders icon) to adjust the Text size and Speech language.
Use Show teleprompter to bring an already-open window back into view.
Keep the script out of your video
Choose a Chrome tab in the recording picker to keep the floating script out of the capture. Window and entire-screen recordings may include it.
Make a short test if you are unsure what your selected capture source includes.
Follow your voice
Select Follow and allow microphone access. The same button shows Pause while following and Resume afterwards. Read at a comfortable pace. The script follows recognized speech rather than scrolling at a fixed speed.
Voice following uses your microphone even if you do not plan to include microphone audio in the recording. Your browser may process speech online; the teleprompter does not save those speech transcripts.
If the highlight drifts, click the word you want to continue from. Check the speech language if recognition repeatedly misses your words.
Move through the script manually
With the teleprompter window focused, you can use these controls:

| Space | Start or stop voice following. |
| ← / → | Move back or forward a few words. |
| ↑ / ↓, Page Up / Page Down, End | Scroll to browse. Following pauses until you click a word or resume. |
| Home | Restart the script. |
| Restart script | Return to the beginning. |
While recording, the floating controls can also offer Pause recording and Finish recording. Stopping voice following is different from pausing the recording.
If the teleprompter will not open or follow
- Enter some script text before opening it.
- Use a supported desktop browser if the recorder says the floating window is unavailable.
- Check microphone permission and the selected speech language.
- Move manually through the script if speech recognition is unavailable or unreliable.
